Sid Kumins, Incorporated was founded in 1954 as a small, local builder
working primarily in new residential construction to meet the needs of a
growing Boston metropolitan community. Sid Kumins, Inc.
today is a much different company from its early beginnings in
construction. Advancements in technology, innovative construction
solutions, and its ability to exceed customer expectations continue to
define Sid Kumins Inc. today. Presently, the company
has over 200 construction projects in its portfolio ranging from single
family residences to 150,000 sq. ft. shopping malls to the historic Beacon Hill's Charles Street Meeting House.
As the company grew, they gained more experience and skill in renovation
and restoration especially with non-conforming structures. Founder, Sid
Kumins made a conscious decision to surround himself with people
who enjoyed the challenges of working in this demanding area. In 1970, Rod
Gilbert joined Sid Kumins, Inc. to bring even more
depth to the organization in working in historic restoration and
renovation. His expertise and drive led Sid
Kumins, Inc. to focus more and more to solving tough construction
challenges. As Rod Gilbert says,
“One of our
greatest contributions is our experience and skill with non-conforming
structures. In fact, little of our work is standard. Consequently,
architects and developers tend to call us in very early in the planning
and design stages, to contribute insights that could make a particular
design a success rather than a headache.”
That approach and specialization is what sets
Sid Kumins, Inc.
apart from all other general contractors in New England. Sid
Kumins, Inc. has the resources and now in 2003 has strengthened
its ability even more to deliver on target construction management
services to developers, architects, and building owners.
